MALE CHILD

Kon ga, Kon ga Kon ga Kon ga
Kun du, Kun du Kun du Kun du
The ogene speaks in the hand of the priest,
With his one chalked eye of the gods
He dances in circle like a cock approaching a hen
Hmnnnnnnn with a shake of his head, he sits.

Why will the gods inflict me with females?
The great hunter, and the best of farmers
I’ve married seven wives, still, the gods are silent
My name will not stop in my generation,
Eye of the gods if there's anything let them speak.

reincarnation,
with rains of chewed kolanuts-
and gins,
suddenly he stopped,
your great-grandfather defecated on the land
he was blessed with quantum’s of male children
the calabash he had broken,
and Nwoke the god of the male child he had withdrawn from his ancestor
he speaks with boldness coupled with his ogene

in curiosity, he laments
how do I appease the gods
in four EKE market days, you will be coming here with-
seven he goats, seven male kolanuts
seven hot gin for the priest
then go and mate with your wife.

Every child is equal
Male, female unique like the stars
for one hand does not wash itself clean
Let my mother sober if he has a male child
Let her dance if she has a female child
Let her block her ear with the baobab tree
For God is the big head of all child.

Review Request (Intensity):
I want the raw truth, feel free to knock me on my back
Review Request (Direction):
What did you think of my title?
How was my language use?
What did you think of the rhythm or pattern or pacing?
How does this theme appeal to you?
How was the beginning/ending of the poem?
Is the internal logic consistent?

every child is unique i said to him
he was saying the girl child is a waste of time and that got me almost provoked but i have to get out of there.

always remember to make a critique of other poems
using the hoe is not madness for nothing
