LOVE SHOULD BE

LOVE SHOULD BE

The way the moon gives way,
So, the sun can shine.
It was you, right down
The line.

LOVE SHOULD BE

The waves constant on the shore line,
The ebb and flow push back.
It is not something you can,
Throw off track.

LOVE SHOULD BE

The way winter warms
For spring.
Love should be WOW!
Quite the thing.

LOVE SHOULD BE

Dreams and wishes that
Come true.
Love never changes its
Point of view.

LOVE SHOULD BE

Constant, not fickle
Or change.
It should be bold, silly,
Clumsy and strange.

LOVE SHOULD BE

How noise quiets for
The silence.
It should be dizzy, sweaty
Not a science.

LOVE SHOULD BE

Free, easy, smooth,
Hot and sticky.
Not used or sinful,
Ugly or tricky.

LOVE SHOULD BE

Loose, never confined, it freely
Flows.
Not something that changes
When the wind blows.

LOVE SHOULD BE

That thing that makes
Time, stand still.
It should be honored, respected,
Not something we kill.

I enjoyed you poem about love's properties. but I have to disagree with these lines:
LOVE SHOULD BE

The waves constant on the shore line,
The ebb and flow push back.
It is not something you can,
Throw off track.
especially the first line because I've found over my many, many years of marriage, that love must be pliant and adaptable in order to learn and grow with the lovers. just my opinion.

great poem, I appreciate all the time and energy you put into it.

that I agree with what Cat has said, but for the reason that I do agree that love should be constant, yet not staid or boring. I think that your next two lines in that verse let us know that. This is one of your best of late, a well thought out discussion of what love truly is. Nice work! ~ Geez.

It seems that the days and hours that people
are available for chatroom are staggered and
not a good match for most everyone. How about
if everyone just shows up at the door, whenever
they have a few free minutes?

I enjoyed the whole poem and agree with both Cat and Geezers points of view. Love should be constant but it should also change and grow. The last lines stood out in my mind. I feel love is taken for granted and often misused and abused. Your last lines were a gentle reminder that we should continue to honor and respect the love we have found, not kill it off as so many do. A pleasant read, good use of language and we'll thought out message.
