Insecurity

Another man walks by
And your malevolent stare ,
Tells her she's in trouble.

Silent journey home
We arrive and the putrid bile flows,
Your fury knows no bounds

Your up in her face, a man possessed,
Spitting bitter insecurities,
her head rebounds off the wall.

Punching her in the face
kicking her in the head
Bellowing fucking bitch,your fucking dead

Afterwards she's battered and bruised
And you cry inconsolably
Begging forgiveness as you do

in bed trying not move in case she wakes you
You reach to fondle her
terrified to refuse .

Living on a razor's edge
slashed and shredded
by your insecurities.

She wants you dead

the emotion right to the fore, and pushed it in my face! Not a bad thing, if for no other reason, than I really heard what you were saying! I know there are many relationships like that one, and most end badly. The only problem, is getting the victim to leave the relationship. They fear for their very lives. And sometimes, it happens that they should! Maybe society should have a Lover's Protection program. Great theme! Not sure how it fits as poetry, but I really don't care. ~ Love ya, ~ Gee

A totally honest portral of what life is like for someone who is being used and abused! Woow Lou, so vivid.

How sad that this is based on reality - a living nighmare.

You are such a good poet.

My daughter was battered and bruised, thrown into sliding patio doors suffering deep cuts to body and soul. I suffered for years worrying about that call in the middle of the night or in the morning. Nothing I could do but pray. She left him when my grandson was less than two,
fearing that the violence may spill over. Thankfully she has been in a loving relationship for almost 20 years with a kind and gentle man who plays the guitar to wind down. Not that they haven't had their issues, but nothing I ever lost sleep over.

I'm glad you changed this poem's vantage point, Lou, it's really powerful this way.

That's why a book of poetry, letters, thoughts, etc. compiled by recovered/ing victims is such an important to to publish. A book to be in *safeway houses*, or in the offices of mental health/social workers.

You have a gift. Hope you enlarge your scope Lou. You can do it!

Lou,

very powerful, and a sad piece too.

Can't find anything I would want to change. When you write something so raw and personal, I find it often is best left as it was originally created in your head.

Excellent!

With all that I am and all that I could be, I walk this earth, yet nobody sees me.

It is a very personal piece, i wasn't sure if i should write it. It's very painful to think of my mum in that situation.

I'm happy you liked it
