A Hindu festival of lights,
celebrated each year in
October or November
according to the
Hindu Lunar Calendar
the fourth day is the start of
the Hindu New Year

To celebrate such happiness
year after year
all Hindus dress in their very best attire
To perform pooja (prayers)

Fruits and sweets are distributed freely
amongst family and friends
all married girls visit their parents for blessings
they go to temples and offer fruits and sweets
when back home
kids fire crackers
Patakas
noise and pollution are acceptable
as exceptional

Rejoice
Today is Divali
the world over all Hindus and Sikhs celebrate it
as it’ a common festivity
since accepted Universally
they say
USA has also granted a holiday today...

Happy Divali to all Mankind...

kidnapped Sita
and abducted her to Sri Lanka (then Ceylon)

Rama with the help of Hanumana
the Lord of monkeys
rescued Sita ji
to returned to Ayodhya
where the people lit
Divas
light oil lamps
and
spread rows upon rows
to guide their future King home
as they returned from the forests

To celebrate such happiness
year after year
all Hindus dress in their very best attire

later exchange gifts with friends
when back home
fire crackers are burst

with coloured powder and rice
then hope Goddess Lakshmi will visit them
and the Divine will grant money like

It’s mainly a Hope of the business kind
