I Choose to be a Spider

Spider

And the philosophy
lecturer asked:

If you're to become an animal
which will you choose ?

Spider ! I screamed
yes I choose to be a spider

And he looked at me
As teachers look at stupid response

I choose to be a spider Sir
I affirmed, Call me karma if you like

the karma that weaves wide webs
for those wicked houseflies

that hunts and hurts
the fragile horn of cocks

And feeds on the skin
of motherless children

those little children
wearing sore as cloth.

Hi Samuel Oyeche, a profound piece and I love the analogy of the spider and why you choose to be this animal. Those were my favourite lines.

And feeds on the skin
of motherless children

those little children
wearing sore as cloth.

"Keep glowing even if no one can see your light.
For among the hidden stars on the darkest night
Someone will look up and behold
The flickering hope; words untold;
Strength and Honour my Warriors! "

..really good writing. My third time through, my skin started to crawl. You are a priest?

...so like my lost dreams...the flood

Thanks for reading
