Happy Birthday, America

A large spread of
Grilled hamburgers,
Crisp
Watermelon,
Creamy potato
Salad, and
Cold sodas.

Candles lit into
The ether,
Sparkling and banging
To remind us to celebrate.
Some professional.
Some amateur.
All spectacular.

Take a moment
To be thankful
For our freedoms
And to remember
Those lives cut
Short to protect it.
It is somber
And rowdy
Like America.

How was my language use?

I have ever attended. I can smell this poem when I’m reading it. Standing in my aunt’s yard 7 years old lighting off fireworks no child should have been allowed to have…Roman candle sparks in my sister’s eye… welcome to the site.

What sweet nostalgia,
I love it,
Tim

I liked the use of visual imagery in the poem. It stimulates ones appetite.

It reads:
A large spread of
Grilled hamburgers,
Crisp
Watermelon,
Creamy potato
Salad, and
Cold sodas.

"By virtue of creativity, my literary genre is poetry".
