Daddy Knows (a child's memories)

Daddy Knows

sister says,
I broke her best dolly
daddy knows
I only play with
my fort construction kit

I prefer log cabins
to doll houses, and
I love my plastic
figures of horses,
cowboys and Indians

Daddy likes me getting
up early
to go in the boat
fishing.
just he and me.
I can bait my own hook
just as he taught ;)

It's wonderful to be accepted for just who you are. It sounds like you and your father had an honest, no-nonsense relationship. I like the smiley face as the final thought to your poem. Endearing and confident!
Thank you!

I will just say a huge applause

Your Dad would be proud. Funny my Dad didn't fish but my grandpoppa did. He taught me to fish and to bait my own hook with mullet gut lol most girls would have run screaming.

Brava!! This made me tear up.

my dad was very patient with me. I was the "son" he never had, lol. I was the only one of his kids who loved fishing and would get up that early in the a.m. when it was still dark. we always ate what we caught. he also taught me how to clean and gut them.

Of my father and I. We only went on one fishing expedition and I was chased by a goose who wanted the cookies my mother sent with me. We still laugh about it, even now. Great job!
