BINARY SYSTEM

One poem, three different forms

Western Classic

Two suns circling out in space
seen so many times by Hubble,
locked in gravity's embrace
without planets or other rubble.

Some so close they exchange mass
each thus gaining from the other
as their shared times slowly pass;
never alone, they've one another.

We have a love which is binary.
Where does one begin, the other start ?
Envied by all those, ordinary,
we two who love and stand apart.

Our bond is both strong and exclusive
with little left for other folks
who find our time for them elusive.
We're like an egg with double yolks.

As long as both our bound hearts beat
our universe is strong and stable
but when, one, the reaper has to meet
the other will disappear, unstable.

Free Verse

Two suns locked in gravity's embrace
such in the universe, uncommon.
Systems swept clear of all stray mass
leaving just the two

Some approach almost too close
exchanging mass by way of heated plasma tubes
thus bound by both matter and gravity.

Together

In our love we are binary,
heedless of outsiders
especially those who must envy
our shared hearts.

Living our lives in others' company;
alone, yet never lonely,
love reserved for just we two.

But in our dark dreams late at night
we know how fragile is our universe
for once one has gone on to the next place
what, then, for the other ?

Japanese

A binary system
two hearts bound by our love
perfect harmony
