all wars of attrition

Attacked from the front
I took a hit to the heart
again and again the blade
slid through flesh and veins

Each volley of grenade attacks
were launched from on high,
targeted to tear apart weakness
designed with hate in mind

Like a lamb to the slaughter
perched on the fabric of heaven
I saw not their missiles deploy
once twice, thrice I am laid cold

Even the words of god
were used against my faith,
even the sacrifice made
in my name is recinded

Now rumblings of an army
rally to oppose my defences
now I must face all hell alone
no more miracles will unfold

in the darkness of the deep
I hunker down head bowed,
scared, not without courage
I stand and face the new day

Whose horror and emptiness
rips a breath yet to breathe
from the aching numbness
thats caught around my soul

and with dragging steps
I face his wars of attrition,
knowing not if any other day
with shine in my heaven again

My Darlings if my body does return
check in the eyes of my spirit
that is I that has followed home
not the husk they would make of me.

This one has a feel of someone facing ISIS to it but you're no lamb. You're a wolf, you fight back. You face them and say ''I'm going to give you hell back.! Not going to get me that easily!''. At least that's what you are to me.

The Uprising

Do they think I am
a lamb for the slaughter?
They don't know what I am!
My will never surrender.

Even if the heavens split apart
and a rain of fire burns my home,
even if despair threatens my heart
like the legions of Rome

I won't bow like a coward
and beg to merciless souls.
I'll rise and move forward,
a warrior, daring to be bold.

I will embrace my own destiny
and unleash hell's fury upon them
that they will remember me,
the wolf they mistook as a lamb.

As for miracles, well, you just to keep on believing and struggling. It has been said that the most pious people are the ones facing hardships in life, not because God hated them but God wants to elevate them before the angels when they show patience and never lose faith.

Alid

It felt like a terrorist attack, it was a verbal attack in my own home from someone I cared about, and now I am much more aware of the fact (if I wasn't already) that you can never know how much someone does or doesn't care about you

Sad isn't it

it is sad but maybe the person don't mean what he or she say. If the person really mean it then it only shows that they broken inside in the first place. Compassion and feeling is what the heart is for. Don't let it get to you though admittedly (talking from my own personal experience here) its the ones that you loved who can hurt you the most. Don't take any bullshit from this person, hun, you're better than that.

Just a small flow problem but I guess these can be sorted speedily,
The theme is great there being many types of Attrition especially those against the mind and body.

These words belong to wars

A war with self
with enemies
a battle of right to fight
and
the spirit it contains

a spirit to split
what remains
in a war of attrition...
what is it?

wearing out an enemy from within
without any replacements

Attrition is a gradual process of wearing down, weakening, or destroying something. When a company wants to reduce its payroll without firing anyone, it will sometimes do so through attrition; that is, by waiting for people to retire or quit without hiring anyone new to replace them.
Google it!

My first thoughts upon reading this was that it was an attack on faith itself, and after your explanation of how you came to write it, it felt even more so. for, who could so damage one's faith in everything more than a trusted friend or a loved one? If I erred here, just chastise me, but for me, it still reads true. extremely powerful poem!
