Cello Curves

I close my eyes to see that magnificent curve of woman running from hip through waist.
Companion in flesh to cello
carved by old knowing hands
of master craftsman
who works alone
in a small room,
creating immeasurable beauty.

Carving contours along which I can slowly wind.
Carved with purpose and time,
until the lean of its lines
can wail sadness in gut wrenching, murderous, murky tones.

When just a moment before she left lullaby's in my ear, breathy and sensual.

CLOUD WATCHERS (Haiku)

Blue eyes blink open
across tattering gray sky
to watch storm depart

42

42 what a size
suppose it's the booby prize
some find them a treat
a long time since I seen my feet
buttons used to pop
now they just flop
of men I despair
their eyes focus 'there'
it's hard not to look like a tart
they cover a really big heart

The Accidental Contestant

My reply may quick; betray
but, it is yours that morphs to grey;

I'm beside myself, and not from any lice !

I loathe to be me, is what's true
so, the only thing that I can do;

is pick two seats, and calmly sit down twice.

~

A plethoric myriad of thoughts
escapes my brain like small robots

coercing all pedestrians to pause;

good thing for them, the lights glowed, red
for over half, changed their minds, instead;

that break alone saved barrels full of gauze !

~

Why wait ...

I waited for you
all my life

like the darkness
is my day
you are my planet
I'm just a moon

I love you
as certainly
I'll never
love again

These dark things
I shelter in my mind
fearing to reveal
and to lose control

You've asked me why
and repeatedly
how I love you
and when I fell

My only answer ?

I waited for you
all my life

Broken Heart

A heart never broken
pristine and sterile
I pity their perfection
their memories futile

An unbroken heart
has not life experience
has not taken part
never suffered a grievance

A broken heart is a lesson
hard to learn but needed
its a beautiful blessing
hopefully not oft repeated

A broken heart gives us
strength and compassion
empathy a welcome plus
wearing it on my sleeve, fashion

The Lesson of the Greedy Double Dater

My friends, this saga slowly unfurls
a love story that went quickly awry,
seems greedy Bob dated a pair of girls
when with one, to the other he’d lie.

The homlier girl’s name was Edith
who, nonetheless Bob was fond of,
but, greedy Bob wanted to live out the “myth”
and with sisters, he was sure to find love !

He began slyly asking about sister Kate
for her beauty was equalled by few,
she was young, and he believed her well worth the wait
she had enough sex appeal for two !

He Changed Me

The man upstairs has changed my life a work that was originally started from within
I really don't think about what my world was like or how things could have been
Jesus has been my major supporter not a BFF he has really been a good friend
If I leave this earth tomorrow there is one thing I know for sure
How great the Lord has been to me my rock, my shelter, my protector
I will have no doubts about this in the end.

fat priests: the moon

little guilts and luscious lies
sweetmeats of imagination:
gifts for globulous priests
fat bellied, heavy men

sin eaters

banquet of imperfections
heralded by faith
chocolate box of judgement.
I watch the moon rise.

Learning to fly

I am dark and fierce, full of shadow
bolt and lock the inner door
pebble water river poem
heart ease pale distraction
placed in haste totally at random
verbal stepping stones
but where-
to place my feet

my battered thesis curls with dust
academic failure cackles on the floor -
I thought I would be famous
