standing ovation, an Ode to Joy

someone has been chain-smoking
poems again, damn it man,
I wake up
coughing,
free verses for July's heat
running down my breasts
like fingers that never touched me
long enough to say hello:
it's been a long time between
the comfort of sex
between us
and the madness
of elation reaching
torrid zones
that enters deep water and makes
even the rain beg for more

hungry flowers spread their blossoms
in lucid dreams
you are sleeping
naked on our bed, reaching out for poems
to hunt, to stalk the emerald green landscape
gathering fire with every breath
like a dragon, you curl inside,

we meet on the edge, starved with the world
erupt with otherworldly music
rapturing into orgasm

I am not
there or here. wings spreading across what can not
be denied, I dive into
a free fall.

this write certainly has the mystic beauty of smoke rings rising and gently diffusing into an aftermath...

Hey Raj, I just read this: http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/43621678/ns/world_news-south_and_central_asia/ Treasure worth billions reported in Hindu temple. I'll be very interested to see how this story unfolds.

Thanks for your comment *chain smoking* on Painting that Swirl, inspiring the beginning of this one. I always try to give credit where credit is due. Kudos.

i believe you know enough of my country...its diversity in languages ..cultures ..faith.beliefs..etc.. perhaps more than i do ....i will certainly keep you updated as much as i can about this story which caught your attention...it is common for temples to amass wealth thanks to the custom of returning the blessings of the Almighty by donating money..jewellery as also the belief that if one commits something like that for achieving fame...fortune ...success He will bless you with what one seeks ...besides there is also a practice where a particular day in a week or a month are special for seeking the blessings of a particular deity when people line up in even mile long queues to have a "darshan" (sighting) of the deity and drop small sums of money in the donation box and as is said little drops make an ocean....

there are many such temples who have amassed a lot of wealth ....and not just temples Saibaba temple in Shirdi...Balaji Temple in Tirupati Siddhivinayaka Temple right here in Mumbai (i have seen a meteoric rise in its popularity from a small temple to one of the richest religious centres) but even the Gurus...Satya Saibaba...Bhagwan Rajneesh...Ramdev baba and many such Gurus who have a following not just in India but world wide...

richer a temple the larger is the following....the good thing is that they use the wealth to help the social cause by building universities...hospitals etc...but the flip side is that such wealth centres catch the eye of the political parties ...

Yes, as you may have guessed, my origins, though Christian are deeply immersed in Yoga... union with God, and Buddhism, the loving compassion of right action, right livelihood...

One wonders how these riches would be best used in view of the immense poverty of so many of the one & a quarter billion souls in India and how much of the 11 billion in treasures have already found its way to unscrupulous hands. Though I have serious doubts about the recently deceased Sai Baba and knowing that his devotees helped him amass billions in fortune, allowing him to spread his wealth & message into schools, orphanages, hospitals...I wonder what will happen to that money now...Though the East is profoundly different than the West, when it comes to money, the commonality of greed and corruption is unfortunate.

Namaste my friend, we who are poets need to teach that to the masses. If God is not within each and every one of us, .then God will never be known.

you are spot on when you say that "If God is not within each and every one of us, .then God will never be known"....in fact there is one religious song in vernacular which says "God is not in the Temple but our body is the temple" ...your concerns are understandable about what happens to the billions when the politicians and the greedy train their eyes on them....Yes the commonality of greed and corruption is unfortunate indeed!!...

I wish to add that the Lotus temple in New Delhi is quite different ...i had been there in November 2010 and i could find it to be a place which is clean ..peaceful and very well organized...one can experience sanctity and peace there..worth visiting if you happen to visit there..in the mean time you can certainly do a google to find out more if you are not already in the know of it..
