Broken Glass

A darkened room with a lone spotlight in the center
She lies there, balled up and sobbing
I can here shards of broken glass and water dripping
Under my bare feet the glass stings and slits my lining
I can hear her breathing
Her tears flood the floor
The glass glistens, the drips continue
“Why would you leave me all alone…” she sobs through the words
As I approach the perfect words escape my lips
“I am so sorry, things just happen…”
She looks into my eyes, I connect with hers
The deepest wells I have ever seen, deep enough to hit her core
I could see her past and present
The tears and the reasons
She cries
I hear a pane of glass shatter
Splintering and spreading
The water catches it in its current and drains to the spotlight
Sensations of pins and needles engulf my soles
My soul becomes a prison
The hell inside my head, thoughts I held in solitude
I become a window
And she sees through me
I am being pulled away, as if by a vacuum or a string fastened to my heart
She recedes in the emptiness
Becoming a dot in the sky, like a star she glistens

What a dark and sad poem. I have one suggestion for the beginning.

She lies there balled up and sobbing
in a darkened room bathed by a lone spotlight
I "hear" shards

Got interrupted. May come back to share more later.
