LIST of HINTS

Listen to the peepers sing
announcing their desire for spring
I see the first gold daffodils
are blooming on south facing hills
The pink blossomed cherry trees
bound to get nipped by a late freeze
The neighbors working loud and hard
mowing wild onions in their yard
People showing more bare skin
some so much it's near a sin
The first turkey gobble of the year
as breeding season's growing near
Robins seen in flocks and bunches
listening for some wormy munches
This evening bats flit through the air
seeking insects not yet there
Folks driving with their windows down
as they speed around the town
These are things I see and hear
when springtime is growing near

thought I'd try a list poem..............scribbler

I'm actually noticing some of these things happening right outside my house, I love spring and this was a great read. Please excuse me for my ignorance though, can you explain to me what a list poem is?
Thanks for sharing this, it was very much enjoyed.

"For what is it to die, But to stand in the sun and melt into the wind?"

In my understanding a list poem is just that, a list of things put in poetic form.I expect even a grocery list would do.
I need to pick up some more milk
or a substitute of similar ilk
and I see we're down to just one egg
best get a dozen and nutmeg
If you used to watch the old show Hee Haw, you might remember "grandpa" listing what's for dinner as a rhyme. Of course a list poem could as easily be free verse...................scribbler

To be sure of definition you might well ask others, but I am always glad to help..........stan

You are a true wordsmith. Reading your poem put me in your poem. I could feel and see what you wrote. To put poems together and come up with something like that is a talent for sure. It is amazing. I truely enjoyed reading this poem. I was there.

Poetry is the living soul of the writer.

brings to memory...

My Favourite Things

Raindrops on roses and whiskers on kittens,
bright copper kettles and warm woolen mittens,
brown paper packages tied up with strings,
these are a few of my favorite things.

Cream colored ponies and crisp apple strudels,
door bells and sleigh bells and schnitzel with noodles.
Wild geese that fly with the moon on their wings.
these are a few of my favorite things.

Girls in a white dresses with a blue satin sashes,
snowflakes that stay on my nose and eyelashes,
silver white winters that melt into springs,
these are a few of my favorite things.

When the dog bites, when the bee stings,
when I'm feeling sad,
I simply remember my favorite things,
and then I don't feel so bad.
