THE WRATHFUL SEA

Her salted bludgeoning maw
swallowed vessels and galleys
with its green saline gullet of
ulcers
barnacles, and a throat full of oily
spots of acne sticky limpets

Treasures guarded by a circle
of sharks in an ocean restaurant
pinching crabs,
and swaying seaweed keeping naval
secrets.

A wave of wrathfulness, tossing
clubbing, floating ships, drowning
them into the abyss.
stripping seamen Into
skeletons with silent screams.

Supported by a howling killer
of a storm . Ripping, blowing holes
into arthritis wooden decks into oblivion
into the coldest dark depths.

Grandiose Majestic Mountain

There stood a majestic
Craggy face with razor blade
Edges of a monstrous
time honoured mountain

Turning its rocky nose up
at anything below him, robust
Jagged and risky, high stabbing
armour with White shark tip
Cut throated fins.

Bald rugged with a silent manner
cold stone as white as marshmallow
steep and strong, bold and old
broad frosted shoulders

With powdered freckles and a storm grey
complexion it wore a white necklace
and a frosted crown, made
by heaven.

AUTUMN'S CUSP

Mid October a cool day
with a northern cooling breeze.
All hints of summer gone away.
The few green leaves are just a tease.

Tomorrow will bring the first frost
so this day finds me 'neath the trees
absorbing warmth before its lost
and limbering up titanium knees.

For I'm not what I once was.
Time has seen that I am not,
So I sit on a stump to take a pause
and breathe autumn's scent which I'd forgot.

Then turn my face up to the sky
as cool front winds begin to blow.
I watch the clouds as they race by.
They leave like friends I used to know.

My eyes water from sun's glare
so I drop my head down to my chest
letting my chin settle there
while I count the ways that I am blessed.

I'm blessed with our cabin in the trees
I'm blessed with seeing one more fall.
I'm blessed with grandchildren to tease.
I'm blessed with being here at all.

I watch a squirrel climb to its nest
for now the sun is getting low
so ere' it reaches ridge's crest
I arise then turn and go.

 Cage of cards

 Chaotically clustered
cage of
cards covering
all
cynically silent
sides of life
plainly plastered
before my
persistently passing
presence of
the present day.
Thoughtlessly thrashing
out the leisurely
overlapping lanes
of possibilities
prancing through
the pressuring palms
of probability.
With a single stern stomp
taking back the cross
mask of control.
There steadily
stumbled down
the obliquely built
walls of ambiguity
freely falling at
my frivolously
fleeting feet.
Vigorously revealing
the vaguely vapid
valley of victorious
vultures who
persistently preys
upon the weak
minded ones
who decisively numb
themselves within naivety .
But still
I walk forth
ahead through
the foreboding facade
of fear
lying before me.

Echoes

Once there was a man
Who wrote beautiful music
He wrote the music because he was sad
He was sad because he was all alone

But he was noticed for his music
He ended up being loved for it
And in being loved
He lost his sadness
And his music soon after

A Blind Eye

Just as there's sour in a lemon
and, that lemon makes a tart,

that is, after it's been baked,
but, before the "bite" does start;

just like milk comes in a bottle
and butter, in small cubes

you can turn a blind eye
but, we're going down the tubes.

Like the wind in fall, or autumn
embarrasses the tees,

by making all their "clothes" fall off
and, land around their knees;

I've seen good folks throw good money
after distinct, political "boobs";

Diary

Diary

Dear Diary
Nobody knows what Hell I go through each day
Except you
You alone are my tower of strength
You alone are on my wavelength

Dear Diary
Everyone believes they can turn me around
But only you can
Just you alone will save me from myself
You alone have been there yourself

Your 'Dear Diary' I will become
Break you from the desire for Rum
Your 'Dear Diary' I have become
Break your cycle and craving to run

Stubborn Heart

Sometimes when my stubborn heart gets a little blue
I take her away from everything about you
I pour her a drink and take her in my arms
where her tears can roll free, away from judgement or harm

GETTYSBURG

At Gettysburg the young men fell
as if reaped by some scythe from hell
never to return to home
an early end to their life's tome

Muskets, grapeshot, and mini-balls
death hurtled from behind stone walls
leading to the cries and screams
of seasoned soldier's shortened dreams

This battle fought so long ago
resulted in the world we know
a land ideas had torn asunder
laid open to pillage and plunder

I Can Still Remember

I can still remember one special day in spring
when I first saw you, wear my wedding ring.
The summer of our love, the beginning of our time
now in the autumn of our love, I’m glad you are still mine.

I can still remember the loveliness of your face
graced by your smile and your warm embrace.
And the years have not changed you or your ways
you are just the same, as you were in those early days.

Just To Be Happy.

Just to be happy is all I need
no dreams of ambition or desire to deceive.

Just to be happy with you by my side
with love in my heart and peace in my mind.

Just to be happy in your warm embrace
no need to be cool or win any race.

Just to be happy no grey skies above
the sun always shining down on our love.

Just to be happy my whole life through
knowing I am loved by someone like you.

SLEPT

kept the words in your heart of hearts like secret tears
like the jar of fears
killing ghosts of beauty and
pinning them on fine card stock
each beauty spread
their wings peirced with steel
the colours exposed

I sip images
I taste dust death
of dreams falling like smoke
laying on you naked
as a nightmare
melting like snow
each drop
softening your pain
rusting the armour

I read you with my hands
all the scars
and yet how smooth
you are

Lazy Fingers

Lazy fingers
And an idle mind
To write off my worries
All in metered rhyme.

About what?
I know not still.
Just letting thoughts flow
At my heart's own will

On pain and joy,
Suffering and strife,
Laughter and sorrow,
Death and life,

Slaves and masters,
Rich and poor,
Winning and losing,
Old age and youth,

Angels and devils,
Heaven and hell,
The good and the bad,
Stories to tell.

Insecurity

Another man walks by
And your malevolent stare ,
Tells her she's in trouble.

Silent journey home
We arrive and the putrid bile flows,
Your fury knows no bounds

Your up in her face, a man possessed,
Spitting bitter insecurities,
her head rebounds off the wall.

Punching her in the face
kicking her in the head
Bellowing fucking bitch,your fucking dead

Afterwards she's battered and bruised
And you cry inconsolably
Begging forgiveness as you do

God is in a Womans Shape

I heard that god was coming back
To be a gorgeous model
With hair so dark and black
Strung out on a bed in a motel
But when she sings, she sings like an angle
So don’t bother to tell her the words, ‘cause they never mattered

She walks the streets alone
Followed by strangers
The cold chills her to the bones
So close to all her danger
But when she realizes all the things that are wrong
Don’t bother to tell her your thoughts; they’re in the words of her songs
