THE WRATHFUL SEA

Her salted bludgeoning maw
swallowed vessels and galleys
with its green saline gullet of
ulcers
barnacles, and a throat full of oily
spots of acne sticky limpets

Treasures guarded by a circle
of sharks in an ocean restaurant
pinching crabs,
and swaying seaweed keeping naval
secrets.

A wave of wrathfulness, tossing
clubbing, floating ships, drowning
them into the abyss.
stripping seamen Into
skeletons with silent screams.

Supported by a howling killer
of a storm . Ripping, blowing holes
into arthritis wooden decks into oblivion
into the coldest dark depths.

Grandiose Majestic Mountain

There stood a majestic
Craggy face with razor blade
Edges of a monstrous
time honoured mountain

Turning its rocky nose up
at anything below him, robust
Jagged and risky, high stabbing
armour with White shark tip
Cut throated fins.

Bald rugged with a silent manner
cold stone as white as marshmallow
steep and strong, bold and old
broad frosted shoulders

With powdered freckles and a storm grey
complexion it wore a white necklace
and a frosted crown, made
by heaven.

AUTUMN'S CUSP

Mid October a cool day
with a northern cooling breeze.
All hints of summer gone away.
The few green leaves are just a tease.

Tomorrow will bring the first frost
so this day finds me 'neath the trees
absorbing warmth before its lost
and limbering up titanium knees.

For I'm not what I once was.
Time has seen that I am not,
So I sit on a stump to take a pause
and breathe autumn's scent which I'd forgot.

Then turn my face up to the sky
as cool front winds begin to blow.
I watch the clouds as they race by.
They leave like friends I used to know.

My eyes water from sun's glare
so I drop my head down to my chest
letting my chin settle there
while I count the ways that I am blessed.

I'm blessed with our cabin in the trees
I'm blessed with seeing one more fall.
I'm blessed with grandchildren to tease.
I'm blessed with being here at all.

I watch a squirrel climb to its nest
for now the sun is getting low
so ere' it reaches ridge's crest
I arise then turn and go.

 Cage of cards

 Chaotically clustered
cage of
cards covering
all
cynically silent
sides of life
plainly plastered
before my
persistently passing
presence of
the present day.
Thoughtlessly thrashing
out the leisurely
overlapping lanes
of possibilities
prancing through
the pressuring palms
of probability.
With a single stern stomp
taking back the cross
mask of control.
There steadily
stumbled down
the obliquely built
walls of ambiguity
freely falling at
my frivolously
fleeting feet.
Vigorously revealing
the vaguely vapid
valley of victorious
vultures who
persistently preys
upon the weak
minded ones
who decisively numb
themselves within naivety .
But still
I walk forth
ahead through
the foreboding facade
of fear
lying before me.

Echoes

Once there was a man
Who wrote beautiful music
He wrote the music because he was sad
He was sad because he was all alone

But he was noticed for his music
He ended up being loved for it
And in being loved
He lost his sadness
And his music soon after

A Nameless Existence

A nameless existence
Dwells in the castle of ruins.
When thunder strikes,
Mirror falls crashing down.

She begins her soliloquy,
Acting like an radical goddess,
Pretending to gather
Specks of hope
On the dust-covered floor.

Breaking.
Something inside her abode is breaking
She’s losing her grip on
What is left
Of her once a beautiful world.

fairy snowy love

you are so wonderful
the icy flakes must slap
as warmth through your lips
you exchange
through mittens
I guess
though it rained
and
may have snowed....

your words are outstanding
and befitting too
how I wish I could compose
as lovely poetry as you do.

perhaps this is my maiden attempt
as I traverse across
the snow clad street
side by side
yes of course incognito
tis true....

reincarnated

Someone turned the colour up

I now see
blood roses smiling
and kookaburra laughs
colouring my day

babies breath wrap
the columns of the night
black pearls glimmer
its crystal Windows

Jasmine wafts
flowering the breeze
a touch so soft
its velvet hand does tease

Senseless
in this bliss
this wonderment
I am thankful

someone came back from the dead

PLAY MISTY FOR ME

PLAY MISTY FOR ME

In a mist of mushroom gray
swirls of yellow play
their yellow mellow melodies.
and in a sea of poppy red
I contemplate when I’ll be dead
but I’m so stoned
it matters not
Pass the hookah and the pot.

My mother

My mother,

seeded by mischance,
a nuggety woman,
cross grained
impatient, full of gall,
slaps my heart with nettles

hits with sticks

so that I will know
just
who
she
is.

My mother

never much cared for children,
charcoal, turpentine and paint
invade the kitchen table and the floor,
thin blades for carving wood
ambush fingers, toes, feet -

stab my hands.

s u b p e o n a

gathered in a hunch

the garrulous touch

slicked down the windbreaker

crowd

had gathered heads bowed

in the brickwork dark

the clay magic stark

the ring of halo red and seeping

raindrops magic landing

needing

the city rises

on cathedral islands

candles flicker

and on the streets
cameo stickers

on worn compacts

and fresh lips

Kissing Arianam

She said she hated kissing, she tossed her dyed red head
I said " then what else can you do when you first get in bed?"
"I got this evil sore throat from that first kiss you see"
it wasn't really worth it, such a beast was he"

"But did you not enjoy it Arianam" I cried
Amazed at her strange response, at her eyes open wide
"what was the taste like at the time ?what did he make you feel
Lesbians don't often have the pleasure of that meal

Tortured

Peeping through a forbidden door

which I'd closed years before

memories that exalt and destroy

momentary joy

then tears I cry

It had ended in tragedy

caused such misery

gnawing feelings that haunt

remembered passions that taunt

there is no release

Will I ever find peace?

Blaze

silken nights
cooled with a waft
of jasmine

languid movement
stirs the air
humidity settles
ice tipped fingers
crawl over my body

the horizon glows
I know somewhere
It burns like hell
and death knocks
at every door

Thousands of men wait
at call to fire storms
that are yet to begin

holding her eye .....2009

the eyes
the smile
Ah! the gaze
the lips twitching do amaze

the dimple cheeks one can’t ignore,
the wink and slant look all do adore
the cleavage is where, hangs an eye
no one can say why…

oh! a lass always looks into
the other’s eye
and
as she holds it for a second more
the voyeur knows
he is in for much more ..
