THE WRATHFUL SEA

Her salted bludgeoning maw
swallowed vessels and galleys
with its green saline gullet of
ulcers
barnacles, and a throat full of oily
spots of acne sticky limpets

Treasures guarded by a circle
of sharks in an ocean restaurant
pinching crabs,
and swaying seaweed keeping naval
secrets.

A wave of wrathfulness, tossing
clubbing, floating ships, drowning
them into the abyss.
stripping seamen Into
skeletons with silent screams.

Supported by a howling killer
of a storm . Ripping, blowing holes
into arthritis wooden decks into oblivion
into the coldest dark depths.

Grandiose Majestic Mountain

There stood a majestic
Craggy face with razor blade
Edges of a monstrous
time honoured mountain

Turning its rocky nose up
at anything below him, robust
Jagged and risky, high stabbing
armour with White shark tip
Cut throated fins.

Bald rugged with a silent manner
cold stone as white as marshmallow
steep and strong, bold and old
broad frosted shoulders

With powdered freckles and a storm grey
complexion it wore a white necklace
and a frosted crown, made
by heaven.

AUTUMN'S CUSP

Mid October a cool day
with a northern cooling breeze.
All hints of summer gone away.
The few green leaves are just a tease.

Tomorrow will bring the first frost
so this day finds me 'neath the trees
absorbing warmth before its lost
and limbering up titanium knees.

For I'm not what I once was.
Time has seen that I am not,
So I sit on a stump to take a pause
and breathe autumn's scent which I'd forgot.

Then turn my face up to the sky
as cool front winds begin to blow.
I watch the clouds as they race by.
They leave like friends I used to know.

My eyes water from sun's glare
so I drop my head down to my chest
letting my chin settle there
while I count the ways that I am blessed.

I'm blessed with our cabin in the trees
I'm blessed with seeing one more fall.
I'm blessed with grandchildren to tease.
I'm blessed with being here at all.

I watch a squirrel climb to its nest
for now the sun is getting low
so ere' it reaches ridge's crest
I arise then turn and go.

 Cage of cards

 Chaotically clustered
cage of
cards covering
all
cynically silent
sides of life
plainly plastered
before my
persistently passing
presence of
the present day.
Thoughtlessly thrashing
out the leisurely
overlapping lanes
of possibilities
prancing through
the pressuring palms
of probability.
With a single stern stomp
taking back the cross
mask of control.
There steadily
stumbled down
the obliquely built
walls of ambiguity
freely falling at
my frivolously
fleeting feet.
Vigorously revealing
the vaguely vapid
valley of victorious
vultures who
persistently preys
upon the weak
minded ones
who decisively numb
themselves within naivety .
But still
I walk forth
ahead through
the foreboding facade
of fear
lying before me.

Echoes

Once there was a man
Who wrote beautiful music
He wrote the music because he was sad
He was sad because he was all alone

But he was noticed for his music
He ended up being loved for it
And in being loved
He lost his sadness
And his music soon after

miss understood

I've become
abstract
they dont understand
anymore

my vague dreams
and a reality of mediocrity
bleed into one

the veils slipped
and I glimpsed midnight
I watched as each pale fell
and a god whispered come near

I've changed my dress
to hide growing scars
littering the landscape
of my entwined limbs

scattered from here
to neverwas, I am lost
alone and so afraid
and misunderstood again

January 2013: Fire NSW

hot wind
rattles branches

bone dry tree

the artery of fire
cracks and bleeds

it is so beautiful, it is so terrible

ash falls, wood snow,
bone dry tree

A New Year's Thanx

Every year, we "let our hair down"
and celebrate with solstice cheer,
we over-eat, get extravagant,
drink too much champagne, or beer.

We spend too much, try & do too much,
and party up a storm;
all the while steady complaining
how last year barely kept us warm!

How it didn't quite live up to be
a better year than the one before;
funny, how last year's complaints
we seem to forget, or else ignore.

Mama's Boy

yeah

I had you at twenty-six not sixteen
you my everything, mama's boy
fight for you
when she's through

Stick too your music
mama there
when she dare
fight for you
when she's through

I'll let you go be a man
fight for you when she dare
live your dream
not my steam

yeah

mama's boy, always
you my everything
fight for you
when she's through

mama there
fight for you
when she through
when she's done, call home

yeah

Neopoet Renga 4

Heavenly sovereign
Almighty rightfully rules
Earthly citizen.

Terrene rulership struggle
Blue, red fight for sovereignty

They lost their belief
Because they refuse to see
The goodness inside

Walk now with purest feelings
Of Unconditional love

Till time comes we meet
Those gone before us again
On heavenly grounds

One nation many faces
Come together under God

Snow circles windows
A painting of dawn relief
Night comes in quarters

F R I N G E

phony sorrows

the bright eye blazing

thundering

the bridge alive

shaking while the boxcars

snaking

travel haunted by

I wore my fringe coat leather

a dandy with concerted bounty

in from the lost county

tangled up

intentions charged

the river why

rippled and chilled

deep enlivened

moonlight thrilled

the dark harvest

in the foyer of stars

snowfall footsteps

and sleeping cars

...

Another High

I tried weed to give me some hype
Wrong bloody stuff gave me second sight.
Now I hear that heroin is so very strong
Nearly drown in the toilet, when rescuing a thong

I can't be for this place at all,
not a bomber, so no virgins call
I saw this toadstool in the wood
It was red with white spots I thought Oh good!

So down I bowed to get a grip
Didn't know it was a frogs trick (Typo)
I grow deadly nightshade in my garden now
I hope Bella Donna is magic somehow

On Poetry's Demise

`

when the clack of keyboards cease
and pages of unbound books
scattered by the indolent breeze
produce a melancholy dirge

think of all the unwritten words
that remain stillborn in the mind
much like the gilded pheasant
out of the snare and into the fire

`

A Husband

He takes out the trash, or makes dinner

thinks he's cleaned the whole house

he's not capable of being quiet as a mouse

full of self-praise

himself, he amaze

selective hearing and speech

sometimes hard to reach

never practices what he preach

loveable and incorrigible

he's not interchangable

I am not who I am

Hubris…
how abhorred am I
that bulls
surround me
all my bones
lay scattered—
a chaotic abacus

What is it
I hold?
— hubris?
this stunted form
my crippled spirit

forest creatures
stray
far from me
wolves
bark
at my shadow

What is it I own?
—hubris ?
alone
By whose
name do I go?

Richard
Spindle-shanks
David
Hobble-foot?
Which of these am I
how are monsters named?
