Neopoet Challenge # 14 Contest Winner

This month our challenge series turns into a contest. Scribbler has won this month's contest with his poem, CONNECTION LOST (voice mail from the grave) Congratulations To Scribbler on such a fine poem. This month also has an honorable mention to Anna Severchuk

CONNECTION LOST (voice mail from the grave)
Slowly walking along three and twenty creek
downstream from the old rice fields
feeling all my old bones creak
but I ignore their appeals.

Ahead are some old Indian mounds
where warriors lay at their last rest.
They recline there making no sounds
hearts long silent in their chests

The mixture produced visuals;
flashes of what used to be
how their lives were to them most usual.
I felt they were inside of me.

Congratulations Scribbler, I have only ever really read one book in my life, BRAVE ARE MY PEOPLE. I love the history of the American Indians. I remember my favorite line , We love quiet, we suffer the mouse to play, when the reeves are rustled by the wind, we fear not, BRAVE ARE MY PEOPLE...... If only life could be that simple.

There were also bad sides to being an American Indian but there are also bad sides to being American lol. Glad you dropped by
