Sunshine

Gone are the days...
when I nursed you from my breast,
and rocked you to sleep.

The days when you would cry,
Just for me to hold you tight,
And kiss the top of your soft, soft head.

These days, I wave you off
as you get on the bus.
You run and play with your friends
and do math, science, and art.
You don’t need me the way you used to,
but I need you.

The way you call me “Mommy”
and the way you say you love me
still makes my heart melt.

Watching you grow
from baby to kid
has been the greatest joy in my life.

I will forever be grateful to have you as my child,
and I will love you
until the sun turns black.

What Kat said about the motherhood account. A very beautiful poem that reflects the love and upbringing in which mother had shown to her child.

"I will forever be grateful to have you as my child,
and I will love you
until the sun turns black"

A very strong affirmation, and the imagery of black!
.

"By virtue of creativity, my literary genre is poetry".

Where did that time go? Well we lived. We cried. We still do.

The little guy is in kindergarten and this is where we are at with him. He’s developing so fast and there’s just very little toddler left in him. He’s so energetic and enthusiastic. May the world never dull that shine he has inside.

I’m a little teary this morning going through the stream. I make sure my children see me cry. Tears can be joyful. Tears can be cleansing. I think we forget the absolutely profound gift we’ve been given with consciousness. The beauty of just “being” is lost to so, so many of us. It’s very difficult to detach from that when you are a new parent. Once you get plugged into that source you really can’t go back. Kids have changed me for the better in so many ways and now I’m straight bawling my eyes out.

That’s one mark of good poetry

Thank you so much, Tim! I always appreciate your feedback. I agree that the beauty of "being" is lost to many. What a joy it is to be conscious of this and choose to not ignore the wonder of it all.

A beautiful recount of motherhood. How quickly the time goes as my oldest gets ready to turn nineteen.

Thanks for the feedback! And happy early birthday to your oldest! :)
