Rescue Boat

Most of today I felt unwell
A sadness was upon me
Whence it came I could not tell
Effect was tidal like the sea
That crumbles cliffs occasionally

The touch, the warmth of muse
From my grasp was stripped
Dejected, wondered “what’s the use?”
Over this dark doubt I tripped
Quiet from my soul was ripped

I went to see some friends
Or read some things they wrote
‘Twas then I felt the ebbing end
A castaway in his emote
Now aboard his rescue boat

Upon the deck are scribed
Poems in different hands
Revealing secrets I imbibe
Deliver strength so I may stand
Trust the wind until we land

Should we not find home
Resigned to be adrift
At least I have your poems
A genuine and priceless gift
Precipitates my gloom to lift

What did you think of my title?
How does this theme appeal to you?
Is the internal logic consistent?
Last few words:
Found myself feeling quiet blue today. Not really sure why but it happens sometimes. Reading all of your stuff helped me reconnect with what was real and let go of my internal struggle. Then I could write again. Please accept this gift.

Hi, Tim,
Having an autoimmune disorder, I've had to isolate myself a little more than most. I've always had the tendency to do many tasks alone - writing, reading, walking - but I do miss getting together indoors with larger groups for meals and games and such. Occasionally, I feel disconnected. Turning to poetry helps, especially reading poetry on this site. It reconnects me to others and returns my inner peace. I understand your poem completely, and appreciate the title.
"...A castaway in his emote
Now aboard his rescue boat..."
Very nice.
Thank you!
L

Truly. It means a lot to be connected to this group and receive such tremendous support.

Gratitude,
Tim
