Nicole

I have been through hell
In my lifetime
Living and toiling in this world
Abuse words! Feeling of Loneliness
Physical and Emotional Abuse

The kids came along
Everything went into an uproar
The marriage failed, infidelity
A life of betrayal and lashes in between.

Is this a movie? Is this my life?
Is this the making of a sad old story?
Where is the love? The joy of kids?
Instead I was scared, a mother’s scorn
To feel neglected by my own kids.

To feel the stabbing pain, they blatantly blame me for
To feel the coldness of their stares
To feel the sadness of their fears
The abuse took something from us all

At times our sanity, our deepest thoughts!
Our judgment, our hope, our dreams, our home!
It shattered hearts; it perpetuates it lingers
As time and years go by
Where is the healing? Do such wounds heal?
Abuse is real, real as the daylight
It shakes, it breaks and it exists!

Review Request (Intensity):
I want the raw truth, feel free to knock me on my back
Review Request (Direction):
What did you think of my title?
How was my language use?
What did you think of the rhythm or pattern or pacing?
How does this theme appeal to you?
How was the beginning/ending of the poem?
Is the internal logic consistent?
Last few words:
Hi everyone kindly offer any suggestions to improve this piece. Thanks much

Of abuse. This was a very raw, emotional piece. You have great courage for sharing these parts of your soul with us. Trauma and generational cycles and curses seem to plague us endlessly. It steals from our very beings and those who are closest to us. I hope you find continued healing through your writing and are able to make amends where it is needed.

for the most part, healing comes slowly, up to a point. some of that pain will always remain. you'll be going along just fine, when something takes you back, reminds you of it and you feel echos of it.I wish it were not so, but that is the truth and the tragedy of it.

*hugs & love, Cat

p.s.
that is why I have eddy styx. to negate the pain of it. he delves into the darkness and usually comes up with a feast, he puts his rage on the page and does the things I cannot do. eddy styx is my Male alter ego who writes dark poetry.

Candlwitch yes well said and I agree with you. Sometimes a memory or something may trigger the pain as the pain is always there but I do not make it a part of me to hinder my happiness or growth. Thanks for taking the time to read and share your perspective.
