UNWRITTEN (random challenge #11)

So I sat down to write a poem.
How hard could it be
for an old guy who looks like a gnome?
(those who know me would agree)

Subject? subject, what should it be?
Seems I've worn most of them out.
So I sit thinking while rubbing my knee
while chasing ideas all about.

Not even sure if I should rhyme
among this huge sea of free verse.
Would it be a waste of time
or even conceit at its worse.

But I'll try and see if I can write
in that newfangled unrhyming way.
I might even garner acclaim
or at least a read or two
or three
on this blustery cold day
while the limbs toss in the fray
.....Damn!

Burning eyes cast all around
trying to track down my muse
which flits unseen without sound.
My pen is frozen, what's the use?

Inspiration's sunk like a leaky boat
so I'll write about what I just wrote.

this was rather like something that I would write when I was in a kind of funky mood. Slap-happy, laz ze faire. A fun thing to have some fun with!

This must be the place, 'cause there ain't no place like this place anywhere near this place.

In the past I have written about the block and by so doing overcome a bout of it. Hope it works this time
