Tranquility

I'm done with this! " as I hit the snooze once more..

tired of the daily grind.

Proposals,, meetings, and impossible deadlines...

" I'm tired of Mr. Brigg!"

Investors, portfolios, airports, even the hotels.

Not one more fancy dinner with a gold digging gal...

or wingtips and sport coats or black tie events.

"Tonight is the night !"

I'm going exit this penthouse
and turn out the lights....

back down that lonely road
far from this crazy life.

To the redwoods, the cypress, my home among the oaks...

living as a legend
wherever I may roam.

"Yes, sure they'll look for me"
but recognize me not...

no more razors or haircuts
just my native locks.

No hustle or bustle
no relentless cell phone....

just me and my old friends
under the tranquility of the moon...

I'll be out here smiling
as my bigfoot life resumes.

your story! Once again, I feel this work just trying to bust loose, because of the near rhyme. I don't think that many of the free verse people will hear it, but it is there! That said; your story takes us through the frustrations of the corporate world and it makes the ending that much more plausible; wanting to escape from the hustle and bustle. Short descriptive lines make this a pleasure to read. Nice job! ~ Geezer.

This must be the place, 'cause there ain't no place like this place anywhere near this place.

Thank you Geezer,
I wanted to be a bit more comical, fun !

Im still settling back into poetry after over a decade... I usually just clack away and see what comes out.

Glad you enjoyed.

A well expressed, humorous exercise in slant rhyme, consonance, and assonance!

Obi.

the comedic intent, it just didn't make it. I am sure that you will get back in form; seeing what I have from you. You have a good feel for descriptive verse and I can't wait to see what you do next! Sometimes, that's what I do, just clack away and see what comes out. I then refine it to a point where I am satisfied that it does what I wanted. A few more like this, and you will be clacking along, like nobody's business! ~ Geezer.
