On the passing of a true great ... Ian T, Sparrow, Yenti.

Ian Thomas Howard
1942 - 2020
Died on 28th October 2020 at 17:10.

He wrote under the names of Yenti and Sparrow as well as his own name.

My dearest Da and loving friend has left this space and traveled onward. He was such a big part of this site. He was the first person to ever comment on my poetry. He was the one who went into the poems not yet discovered and made sure everyone had at least one comment. He was a friend to so many of us here. He became my unofficial Da and I his Jaughter. He sent me gifts from time to time. Football cards for my beloved footy team. A dictionary over a 100 years old that sits next to me now as I write this. That dictionary ? my god I went through so much to find one here in Australia. He went the extra mile and found it in the UK for me. I am glad that he didn't suffer long and I am glad that he's in no more pain. But I shall miss him until my last days. He was always there for me. I know he's there watching from behind the veil cheering me on.

I think that everyone should make a point to honour him. By discovering an undiscovered poem. By writing that extra verse. Maybe by just writing to him in word and explaining how much he meant to you or how much he helped you along your poetic journey.
.
I make him a promise and I plan to keep it.

Vale to a splendid Poet and friend and unofficial father, forever young now. Ian T, Sparrow, Yenti...My Da

I will love you always and forever. <3 <3 <3

A saddened heart IAN YENTI
Wait for me Dearest poet of NEO
LOVED BY SO MANY

.....with a gloom saddest news
IAN loved me
loved a young bard---- read me..... guided me ....he was years younger than I
you bring tears into my eyes
Men don't cry why---- they do also .....as other humans

Sad be the hour ///But the Unknown IAN empower..... with love from the world entire.
Your feelings I admire
I wonder why I lose my good friends
is it natures desire
Sad Serendipity very sad.is this hour

Dear One, he is in a better place. He's no longer suffering and he's no longer in pain. He found out he was sick and within weeks. Was gone. I will cherish our last conversation forever. He was so very special to me and to so many others. It seemed serendipitous that yours was the first poem I saw in stream today. I knew you both had a special relationship and I was truly sorry to be the bearer of bad tidings. Ian's footprints will now print across my lawn in the mornings. And he will travel all over the world to see us his friends and loved ones. I wish I was returning with happier news but he made me make a promise to him and now I will pick up the burden. If his passing brought nothing else. It's going to bring me back here.

With love loved Jaughter.

we all know
that we all have come
to go
Before going
he also
told me so

I wish in his next existence
he is well
but who can that tell
amen

I'm glad he came to you. It feels like he's been gone longer. He's no longer suffering. For that I'm thankful. I am going to miss him and our chats.

Love and hugs xxx

I am so sorry
it took me years to read this
I hadn't read you in the stream for many days
But you yesterday commented on one of my ancient poems
As per your directions I have composed one
IMMORTALITY
Kindly do what you want to, to it
Nice knowing you are once back again on the larger screen
Hope you are well
Like Ian I could be a father da u say
Good day

Yet one more of newport's best now gone.He epitomized what this site is all about and will be sorely missed.

I had to come and share this with you all as I know how much apart of this place he was. He truly was one of our best. This has been a horrible year. I hope you're doing better. I'm back now to stay.

Love always J xx
