The end of isolation.

The end of isolation.

Can it be borne?
That cold step back into the real.
Will faces look at me the same?
Will eyes wander to my expanded girth?
I have given birth to sloth,
it's true, and I know it's been the same for many,
maybe you.

Will they have a thousand questions, or
will there just be one?
When I find myself back inside,
"When will the work be done?"

Will it fall to such banality,
when all are said and dumb,
and I'll be back to normal,
the novelty of this bug,
long done.

All said I’m lucky,
I’m here and breathing,
No words could count such loss,
And hope upon hope,
It’s gone, beseeching,
We learned from its terrible cost.

things will be different; for a while. Then it will surely descend into the same old, same old. We will forget or at least let the memory fall by the wayside. How unfortunate for us. Those that have lost loved ones, will not forget so easily, but it will slide into the background of everyday life until it seems but a dream. Sad, but true and I cannot tell you how to write it so that it will not be so. Nice, sad work. ~ Geezer.

This must be the place, 'cause there ain't no place like this place anywhere near this place.

Good reflection on coming out of this isolation. Sad, questioning and deftly written. I don't know how different we'll be. I'm of the opinion that humankind, collectively, will never change. Individuals can be either good, bad or imperfect, but as a whole we've done nothing but damage the planet.
The pandemic came to stop the devastation and it has, but greed will continue among the powerful. Sadly so.
