To Unlove You

I'm learning how
To unlove you

It hurts worse than loving you,
Knowing you don't love me back.

Abandoned

Submitted by Mary Beth Magee

She bobbed there in the gentle swell,
The little boat I knew so well.
The sail wrapped tight along the boom
Gave me a feeling of dark doom.
I saw no anchor chain hung down
To stop her, lest she run aground.
No one sat in her empty bow.
No hand controlled her keel just now.
A gentle breeze set her to rock.
How did she get loose from the dock?
As the breeze caused her to turn,
I spotted paint along her stern.
Rough letters where my name had been -
The words now looked like "Mortal Sin."
What had he done in dark of night?
Was he convicted by dawn's light?
Then in the reeds beside the dock…
What I saw gave me quite a shock.
A body, face down, on the lake,
Could it be him, for heaven's sake?
Please, no, I prayed and backed away.
What pushed him so, I cannot say.
I didn't dream that he would dare.
I only know I lost him there.

Neopoet Weekly 06/09/24 to 06/15/24 Winner!

This week’s winner is Lavender with the following poem

Winning Poem

Magic

Submitted by Lavender

A falling star settled on my rose,
a diamond dipped in velvet clothes.
I dared not touch the pure gift
sent from heaven, so swift,
but let it rest there
in such sweet air
and comply
to my
wish.

Neopoet Weelky 06/02/24 to 06/08/24 Winner!

This week’s contest winner is hippiemoon with following poem:

Archeology

By: hippiemoon

Years from now,
We will be dead and buried.
Your laugh nothing more than
A whisper in the wind,
A breeze carrying off dandelion wishes.

Our headstones will rest together,
Aging together, as we did in life.
Tears from our loved ones will mix with rain
And our memory will fade with the engravings.

And years from now,
We’re forgotten by everyone but the Earth.
They will dig our bodies up
And find our bones entwined in each other’s arms.

Something New

Rain rushes from the skies
Mixing with a single tear
The wind cuts through
Like every doubt, every fear

Lightning shatters my peace
Like the pieces of my mind
A distant thunderclap mocks
Of the girl I was and left behind

A tornado rages in my head
Demolishing my peace and joy
I plaster on a smile for you,
But it's just a tactic I employ

The fear paralyzes my heart
Yet I'm so tired of being afraid
It is time to get up and fight
Before my resolve starts to fade

My fingers curl around my sword
I lift it high, I've got my armor on
I bring it down with all my strength
Until the shattered pieces are gone

There is no fixing the girl I was
No use in buying time with glue
The only solution is to shatter her
And forge with fire Something New

my offer

There we are, awash in velvet shadows
I mumble clumsily through my offerings of my soul.
The night feels spun on so much promise
The warm air feels too forgiving,
So willing to wrap itself around us
Raise us upon its back, into another time, another fable.

He's back!

‘He’s back... he’s back..!’
I want to shout out
He has finally come back
After weeks in absence....
Felt his presence all the time
But couldn’t see those loving eyes
Fingers touched him with ease
Though I struggled to reach the mind
Had no problem with the word flow
Yet, for a conversation I could die
Oh... how badly did I miss him
When he was right by my side....
Days spent under fear and suspense
Have finally come to an end
The tinted window’s now open
Giving glimpse of the sun shine

In search of love

the moon shines bright
faithfully every thirty days
as some enjoy the night

wishing upon the stars
for another chance
to change the world

the ocean water ripples
carrying with its memories
of those standing on it shores

taking hold of its power
to find love infinities
where no one knows a broken heart

In absence of love ~The Challenge

the sun burns in day skies
loyally in summertime
some cry out from its source of pain

longing peace and security
a trap into life's forge
fingernails scratching at lock doors

for entitlements enjoyed by elderly
fordone for all younger than 55
left to suffer at hands of corrupt ones

parched grass lay bare
no longer green
for those climbing fences

the railway track!

the railway track!

if the train driver is
a married man he will
apply brakes
then take you home
where you will awake
in unknown arms
slumbering sweet
mouth full of chocolates
God gave him a sweet bunny
one he needed

MOST!

Restless but not Restricted

Boundless Feelings, boundless Emotions
when it comes to express them we are bounded
so much to say but we hardly utter
so much to say but we are short of words
some time we get few words but we hardly open up
want to share & exchange but we prefer quiet
need someone who can decode expressions
someone who can provide exact meaning
but we all fail as we try to pursue words
all we need to read those eyes
in quiet & placid they keep talking
for sorrow or happiness they keep dropping

D E B A U C H E > . . .

can't seem to see
the floodplain me
our hostel imprint glassware time
escapes our shell
Your heart in mine

this sadness beads of
atrophy
still rushed in turpid
meaning crush

come with our duster
dreams cloaked
damp The misting rains
that turn hope black
our naked room
with trembling timid
fingers on our backs

the bare breast haste
the passion rage
our loins brazen
with the spring
and now
our fall

In search for peace

I once walked
with the empty streets
to meet the dawn
but they never took me there-
where peace could be found.

Instead they led me
to life's lamenting shores
where I endlessly talked
to the empty shells,
to the broken waves,
and to the withering sands
just to find out that
peace has there
forever drowned.

nosegay

from freshly turned soil
nostalgia drifts
a raw sweet aroma
born of the season's virgin breath

space billows
reveals a stage
the light of my past beckons softly
and I return to a scene
that count has concealed

shadows shimmer in deep eddies
melodious tones
of times now long gone
fresh paint, new carpet
pristine polished timber -
the feel, the comfort of my very first home

WINGS

WINGS

I seek no magic
no Christmas dreams
no childhood anticipation
of exciting things
no wanderings into fantasy
and imagination.
I have no place to hide
any more.
I have no wings
