To Unlove You

I'm learning how
To unlove you

It hurts worse than loving you,
Knowing you don't love me back.

Abandoned

Submitted by Mary Beth Magee

She bobbed there in the gentle swell,
The little boat I knew so well.
The sail wrapped tight along the boom
Gave me a feeling of dark doom.
I saw no anchor chain hung down
To stop her, lest she run aground.
No one sat in her empty bow.
No hand controlled her keel just now.
A gentle breeze set her to rock.
How did she get loose from the dock?
As the breeze caused her to turn,
I spotted paint along her stern.
Rough letters where my name had been -
The words now looked like "Mortal Sin."
What had he done in dark of night?
Was he convicted by dawn's light?
Then in the reeds beside the dock…
What I saw gave me quite a shock.
A body, face down, on the lake,
Could it be him, for heaven's sake?
Please, no, I prayed and backed away.
What pushed him so, I cannot say.
I didn't dream that he would dare.
I only know I lost him there.

Neopoet Weekly 06/09/24 to 06/15/24 Winner!

This week’s winner is Lavender with the following poem

Winning Poem

Magic

Submitted by Lavender

A falling star settled on my rose,
a diamond dipped in velvet clothes.
I dared not touch the pure gift
sent from heaven, so swift,
but let it rest there
in such sweet air
and comply
to my
wish.

Neopoet Weelky 06/02/24 to 06/08/24 Winner!

This week’s contest winner is hippiemoon with following poem:

Archeology

By: hippiemoon

Years from now,
We will be dead and buried.
Your laugh nothing more than
A whisper in the wind,
A breeze carrying off dandelion wishes.

Our headstones will rest together,
Aging together, as we did in life.
Tears from our loved ones will mix with rain
And our memory will fade with the engravings.

And years from now,
We’re forgotten by everyone but the Earth.
They will dig our bodies up
And find our bones entwined in each other’s arms.

Something New

Rain rushes from the skies
Mixing with a single tear
The wind cuts through
Like every doubt, every fear

Lightning shatters my peace
Like the pieces of my mind
A distant thunderclap mocks
Of the girl I was and left behind

A tornado rages in my head
Demolishing my peace and joy
I plaster on a smile for you,
But it's just a tactic I employ

The fear paralyzes my heart
Yet I'm so tired of being afraid
It is time to get up and fight
Before my resolve starts to fade

My fingers curl around my sword
I lift it high, I've got my armor on
I bring it down with all my strength
Until the shattered pieces are gone

There is no fixing the girl I was
No use in buying time with glue
The only solution is to shatter her
And forge with fire Something New

a cross stick

Glad you told us twas an acrostic
I was about to my a neck stick
but beauty lies in poetry
emotion ...

who says it must always rhyme
while composing an acrostic
you commit no crime
rhyme or no rhyme
it was acrostic
I wrote for quite some time
till someone told me
you are...
that is..
I was
an expert of the kind
now you all follow
the free verse
of Loved's mind...

outside lava throwing fire
deep inside a little girl bent like wire though she hides

She fell once
I offered my hand
Her tears pressed too thin
to see
but she reached for me

she laid me down upon the gravel
we joined at the chest
and shared.......something
voudoun, darkness

I have never been the same

elaborate fog tendril
moves as it pleases
it hunts for those marked
upon hot summer breezes

Hurt

Don't you remember,
All those long classes that felt too short?
Giggling at the teacher as she enthusiastically spoke of moss sex?
The deep intimate note we passed, an the secrets we shared?

Surely she knew of what we spoke,
Taboo and new.
She never minded though, because we were her stars
in the black night of public school.

We formed a bond as tight as the nucleotides that we studied.
Adenine, thymine, guanine, cytosine.
Steadfast friends, and maybe more?
Until you went away.

AUGUST 18

Conventional cloudy rainfall
Along with visible thick haze
Inundated sea disappeared
The greens were as hard to locate
As the short airstrip of Sprigs Payne

Belated voice from the tower
Hollered thus, “Man you’re too high”
But the eagle dived and landed
With a rebounding touchdown jig
Lost a third of the squat runway

Travelers’ fate rolled helplessly
Tumbled on sandy plain below
Emergency briefed on exits
Bits and pieces left in the holds
For the spark that ended in fire

The Traveler

No special traveler am I, but another just as you.
I make my way through this life as best I can,
with hopes for joy and little pain.
Coping with the whatever comes my way.
Sometimes growing, sometimes not.
I travel this road lighter now,
bringing with me little of time or fortune.
For most of both are long since spent just getting here.
The only thing of value I have left,
are these tiny bits of person I call me.
The last of my treasure which I will freely share with you.

eager to be slim
because he wants her to be thin

shes a rake
that dont need the cake
(let them falsehood bitchs eat dat)

and he dangles girls by her
streamline designer
draws her in
adjusting to win

and the boys are falling
hard as chrome
soft as rain
because they love the way
she shows the pain

they want to be her
brand new stain

but deep down
theres an angel
dark from heaven
fields
the slain

the wings are
dripping white
as down

The Arrogant ~1-The ungrateful~

14
What has Cain brought forth to our Earth
but mist and mud and lots of lust.
No more than a grain of salt's worth,
nothing, but sorrows and mistrust.

15
There, Ken thought it's lots of delight-
and shamelessly plotted for it.
In a ludic party one night,
he'd decided a time to set.

"Too much merriment I shall get
tomorrow before the sunset,
"No devil but I , shall abet
ending Someone's tortured spirit."

I Promise

You radiate with the last light that keeps the mountains from fading into the sky
And for all my restraint that light gets brighter as the night gets dark
So I ache for the ocean and your memories swept up in the tide
For your pushing pulling breakers
And for the drive behind your hips to pull you toward me
Exploring all the mountains and the valleys
The one between your lips and chin
The hollow just above your collarbone
The beautiful cave they call your mouth that falls in on itself every time we try to draw out one another’s souls

false believers

Terrorists of the worst kind
Angry men who yearn to rule
Likely to all good things blind
Insane, blatering fool's tool
Brutal to their own women
Always willing to do them in
No prophet would claim them kin

Cruel for cruelty's sake
Only hatred fills their hearts
Women's freedoms they forsake
Against all good the Koran imparts
Rape and power their sole goal
Don't you know the Taliban?
Sinners living with no soul

young you

you are very young and beautiful
accomplished poet, keep it up
poetrys simply an expression
of one’s feelings,not really
of one’s own but also
imbibed from family
and friends none
can express what
you do yourself,
others change
dot a comma
here n there
then say this'
much better
can't u see?
May be!
